The SDGs and the 2030 Agenda was initiated at the 2012 Conference in Rio de Janeiro in the outcome document “The Future We Want.” To build on the Millennium Development Goals 2000-2015, all the world’s countries came to a consensus at UN Headquarters on August 2, 2015 on the document “Transforming Our World: The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.” On September 25, 2015 the 2030 Agenda with 17 Sustainable Development Goals was formally adopted. Each of the 17 goals has specific targets to measure achievement. The 2030 Agenda contains recommendations on how to achieve the 17 Goals.
The Congregations of St. Joseph continue to support all these efforts and work to establish the SDGs wherever they are.
