International Mother Earth Day

On April 22, 2020 the US celebrated the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day. It was the idea of Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelson to focus on environmental conservation after an oil spill in Santa Barbara, California in 1969. In 2009, Bolivia initiated negotiations on recognizing interdependence among human beings and living species. To foster Harmony with Nature the United Nations General Assembly declared April 22, International Mother Earth Day. (more…)

World Water Day

World Water Day is on March 22nd! This year’s theme “Water and Climate Change” focuses on the importance of water issues as we address climate change.  Globally, at present, 1 out of 3 people do not have access to clean drinking water, which, in 2010, the UN declared to be a human right. This is true while in the next 20 years, demand for water is expected to increase by 50%. (more…)
